Custom Furniture

Often my custom furniture pieces are created when a client is not able to find the right piece for their space or wants something that is truly one of a kind.  Because I don’t mass produce any of my furniture pieces and most of them are created specifically for a client, they become art pieces, too.  I use many different materials when creating custom furniture from concrete to exotic wood veneers to glass to metals.  My custom furniture includes beds, entertainment units, desks, coffee tables, side tables, console tables, dining tables, benches – just to name a few.  Each furniture piece is signed for authenticity.

Custom Built-Ins

When changing or enhancing the purpose of a room, one of the most valuable assets to add is Custom Built-Ins.  Not only do Built-Ins become a focal point of the room, they also add overall value to any space.  When I design Custom Built-Ins my main objective is building pieces that fit the actual space, not the furniture in the space.  Also it is important to create pieces that are versatile and multi-purpose.  I always deliver what my client wants and needs, but also keep in mind the resale value.

Venetian Plaster

As a designer I love working with textures and different mediums and one that has been an integral part in many of designs is Venetian Plaster.  I began with the traditional methods of using Venetian Plaster by only applying it in wall treatments to client spaces.  I then began to experiment with it and started using it in my furniture designs from coffee tables to entertainment units to art pieces.  Venetian Plaster offers a versatile medium that gives very unique characteristics to the finish and provides depth through the many layers that it takes to achieve the final look.

Space Planning

One of my favorite sayings is “quality not quantity” and this definitely applies to space.  I actually feel my best designs are achieved in small and limited spaces.  It really makes me think through the layout and usage of the space to maximize its use.  When a client challenges me to use an otherwise “unused” space, it often turns out to be one of the most functioning areas of their living/working space.  Just a few of my projects have entailed converting closets into fully functional offices with desk and storage areas, enclosing areas under stairways to create closets, and building library spaces with custom bookshelves in very narrow rooms or access ways between rooms.
